Mrs Thelma Grant ✞

In Loving Memory

Mrs Thelma Grant’s funeral service on June 10th Thursday at 3.30pm

Mrs. Thelma GrantGreta Thelma Grant, daughter of Mary and John Grant, was born October 7th, 1933, in British Guyana. She was the loving wife to Arnold Doucet since September 28th, 1991. She is in loving memory with her siblings Iris, Bobsie, Fredrick Grant, Ruby, Calvin Grant, and Lucille Moonsammy and survived by her sister Edna Brown at the beautiful age of 103, who currently resides in Guyana. Thelma is survived by her children: her beloved Steve, Donna, and Terrence; grandchildren Peter, Bianka, Jemel, Patrick, Ibane, Stephon, Alliah, Perry, Sarah, Jacob, and Andrew; great-grandchildren Shevon, Ashton, Renessa, Kevin, (and four others); and two great-great-grandchildren.

Greta (Thelma) was raised by her sister Lucille. Greta has a strong relationship with all her nieces, nephews and their children living in Guyana, United States, and Canada, especially Deloris, Joan, Jackie, Marlon, Pat, Mark, Kim, Pam, Tainy, Rudolph, Compton, Clearmont, Desa, and numerous others. Greta migrated to Canada in 1969, where she continued her education in nursing. She worked as a nurse at Pinegrove Nursing Home and Etobicoke General Hospital where she continued to assist and provide for those in need until her retirement. Furthermore, she was a proud member of the Girl Guides Organization in Guyana and was active in voluntary work throughout her life.

Greta believed in order to make this world a better place, we all should give our love and time to those in need. The instance Greta needed to pause and find balance, she and her husband, Arnold, would spend their time at their cottage in Bobcaygeon. They both truly shared a passion for country life. Together they had many wonderful Christmases entertaining family and friends. Each holiday season, she would make her famous black and sponge cakes and her classic garlic pork. Greta’s faith in God kept her close to her church where she volunteered as an usher. Her fellowship in the church in known by her priest and parishioners.

Greta’s grace, poise, wisdom, and style will always shine through her children.

Special thank you to the LHIN (Local Health Integration Network) organization for all their support, and to Mount Sinai Hospital and their cancer fighting doctors and nurses for the support they provided to Greta and her husband, Arnold.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. While we wish we could invite everyone to share in the remembrances, due to the current gathering restrictions, we must limit the number of attendees to the funeral home. We kindly thank you in advance for your cooperation.
