Announcements for the week of October 21 2018

Archdiocese-of-Toronto announcement about the new Archbishop of Toronto

  1. Our Big Hearts Building Fundraiser has been expanded to include the building and roofs! We need to continue collecting funds to pay down the debt which is now $300,000 (minus the insured amount TBA). We need your creative ways to raise cash to pay off this building debt. We received 3 anonymous donations this week totaling $1,233.00 with the current total of $15,740.00. Please continue to give.
  2. Today, our ushers will be gathering for the Archdiocese the annual People in the Pews count. They’ll be counting how many people are coming to Mass.
  3. The Knights of Columbus invite all parish men to an OPEN HOUSE Monday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. Please mark your calendars for the Annual Fall Dinner Dance coming November 10.
  4. Our Catholic Women’s League thanks everyone who wishes to donate items for the Annual Christmas Bazaar coming November 17! Please bring your donations after Remembrance Day.
  5. Halloween will be here in about 10 days. Because of this special day, our Looking Back music program will be having a Halloween special on Friday, October 26. We’ll be playing 2 hours of your favorite classic Halloween songs including “Monster Mash,” “Thriller,” “Ghostbusters,” “Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead!” and “Bad Moon Rising.”

This program is for all ages – for anybody who enjoys Halloween in general and Halloween music in particular. It doesn’t matter if you’re not old enough to remember when these songs were first popular. We’re presenting these songs on the assumption you don’t know them, and information will be provided for each song such as who sang it, what year was it first available, how popular was it etc. You might be surprised to learn that many of these songs were number one hit records. The Halloween songs we’re going to listen to are “fun”, lively songs and many are humorous such as “Witch Doctor”, “The Purple People Eater”, and “The Purple People Eater Meets The Witch Doctor.” I hope you can join us on Friday, October 26 at 7 PM for a fun and unique way to celebrate Halloween.
